J. P. Kepka qualified for the US Winter Olympic team in 2002, but did not compete. In 2005 he placed eighth at the World Short-Track Championships. He has primarily been seen internationally by helping the US relay team reach the podium. In the 2004-05 World Cup season, he was on the relay teams that won silver in a Chinese event, and bronze in an Italian World Cup event. He placed second overall at the 2005 US Short-Track Championships. Kepka attended Northern Michigan University and continues to compete on the US Short-Track team.
