The tennis tournaments at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris ran from 27 July to 4 August, at the Stade Roland Garros, featuring a total of 172 players across five medal events: singles and doubles for both men and women, and mixed doubles. Like previous editions, the Paris 2024 format was set in a single-elimination tournament, with the men’s and women’s singles draws consisting of 64 players. The tennis tournaments featured six rounds in the men’s and women’s singles, five in the men’s and women’s doubles (draw size of 32), and four in the mixed doubles (draw size of 16). All singles matches were best of three sets, with a standard tiebreak (first to seven points) in every set, including the final set. In all double’s competitions, a match tiebreak (first to ten points) was contested instead of a third set. The Paris 2024 tournament was the first Olympic clay court event since Barcelona 1992. It was also the first Olympic tournament to be played at a Grand Slam venue since 2012, when the London event was staged at the Wimbledon Championships venue, the All-England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club.
In men’s singles, after winning a bronze in 2008, Novak Đoković finally won the Olympic gold medal in his fifth Olympics. It was the only major trophy missing from his glorious career.
In the women’s singles, world No.1 and top seed Iga Świątek of Poland could only finish third. Sixth seed Zheng Qinwen of China defeated 13th seed Donna Vekić of Croatia in the final.
In the men’s doubles, Australia’s Matthew Ebden and John Peers were the first unseeded pair to win the gold medal since Fernando González and Nicolás Massú in 2004. Representing Spain, Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal were eliminated in the quarter-final.
After winning the women’s doubles gold medal at Tokyo, Kateřina Siniaková of Czechia added a mixed doubles gold in Paris.
