Defending champion Ivan Litvinovich of Belarus, who competed in Paris as an Individual Neutral Athlete (AIN), defended his all-around title from Tokyo, becoming the only male trampolinist in history to win two Olympic gold medals. Previously, Canadian Rosie MacLennan was the only athlete to successfully defend an Olympic trampoline title, in the women’s event, retaining her title at Rio 2016 after first winning gold at London in 2012.
China completed the men’s medal podium in Paris, with Wang Zisai finishing second (with the highest execution score of the field), and Yan Langyu, who claimed gold at two of the last three World championships, finishing third. All three finished in the same order as in the qualifying round. The bronze medalist from Tokyo, New Zealand’s Dylan Schmidt, finished fourth in the qualifying, but fell in the final and finished eighth.
