Kim Collins was a Kittitian sprinter known for his very long career. He competed at the Olympics from 1996-2016, never winning a medal but making the final of the 100 metres in 2000, 2004, and 2008. He was on the Saint Kitts and Nevis team for the 2012 London Olympics, but team officials sent him home after he spent a night with his wife away from team headquarters. Competing eight times at the World Championships, Collins did win the 2003 Worlds in the 100, adding four bronze medals at the Worlds – 100 in 2001, 2005, and 2011, and in the 4x100 in 2011.
Known as the grand old man of sprinting, Collins ran a personal best of 9.93 in 2016 at the age of 40, making him the oldest sprinter ever to break 10 seconds. In 2016, he also made the final of the 60 metres at the World Indoor Championships.
Collins attended college in the USA, at Texas Christian University. He was 2001 NCAA Indoor Champion in the 60 metres, and twice won silver medals in the 60 at the World Indoors, in 2003 and 2008. While at TCU Collins anchored their 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams to victories at the 2000 and 2001 Penn Relays.
