The Bisley rifle range was the home of British shooting and it proved a suitable location for the 1908 Olympic shooting, with the trap shooting being the only events held elsewhere - at the Uxendon Shooting School Club. The trap shooting took place over four days - 8-11 July, while the other shooting events took place over 3 days, 9-11 July. The shooting events were basically separated into five categories: 1) long-range rifle shooting, 2) small-bore rifle shooting, 3) pistol shooting, 4) running deer shooting, and 5) trap shooting.
The weather was clear and good on Wednesday, 8 July, the first day of trap shooting. But otherwise, the weather was noted to be poor and very difficult on the shooters. It was windy, cool, cloudy, dark, and rainy throughout the last three days of the competition.
